Coming up next: the 35% design review
Once the design documents (plans and specifications) reach 35% design, they are ready for an extensive review. Here’s what’s involved:
Full-size design drawings (along with specifications) will be sent to the various involved parties for their review, including:
- Project representatives in CDR, Dairy Plant, Food Science, CALS and UW-Madison Facilities Planning and Management.
- Wisconsin Division of Facilities Development. DFD will do a complete review of the various aspects of the building, including plumbing, mechanical, electrical, fire safety, code review, etc.
- The Concord Group, a company with expertise in cost estimating. Concord will put together an official cost estimate for the 35% submittal.
Zimmerman Architectural Studios will collect the review comments and schedule a round of meetings with the various groups listed in the first bullet point above to be held approximately three weeks after the drawings are delivered.
Zimmerman will compile all of the comments received into a single document and will respond to each item. As they do so, they will continue to move forward with the design, making adjustments based on the comments received and other design team decisions.
